Will martial arts make my child violent?
No. Martial arts is used as a last resort. A core principle of our academy is solving problems through peaceful resolution and building self-confidence that eliminates the need for violent behavior. Kids leave our classes calmer and more focused — not more aggressive.
My child isn't very athletic. Can they still benefit?
Certainly. We teach skills that improve coordination, flexibility, and strength, and we make sure every activity is appropriate for each child's athletic level. Non-athletic kids often see the biggest gains in confidence because they realize they can learn a hard thing.
Will my child be injured in martial arts?
There's a chance of injury with any form of exercise. We take special care to supervise all drills so students perform movements correctly. Sparring only occurs at higher levels and only for students who choose to participate — and who we feel have the skills to spar safely.
How fit do I have to be to take an adult class?
We have students of almost every fitness level on our mats. Your current fitness isn't the factor — we work on improving your level wherever you're starting from. If you can walk and move, you can train.
I have a past injury or medical condition. Can I still train?
You'll want to talk to your doctor about the risks of rigorous exercise with your specific condition — they'll know best what your body can safely handle. Most students with past injuries can train with modifications; we've been doing this long enough to know how to work around almost anything.
What should I wear for my first class?
A top and pants that are comfortable and easy to move in. Athletic shorts and a t-shirt or rashguard work perfectly. No shoes on the mat. We'll handle everything else on day one.
Do I have to spar or compete?
Never. Sparring is optional at every level, and competing is for the students who want it. Most of our students train for fitness, self-defense, and the mental side — not for fight cards. If you want to compete, we'll prepare you. If you don't, you'll still make real progress.
Is the first class really free?
Yes. No credit card, no commitment. You fill out the form, we'll confirm a time, you show up and train. If it's a fit, we'll talk about membership options after. If not, you've lost nothing but an hour.
